We have decided to take a break from the Waikato Shoebox Christmas in 2024.

The year has already been a bit of a rollercoaster for our family, and we have found the last couple of years to be a real challenge to get shoebox gifts in on time. We appreciate those who always came to our rescue when we needed urgent donors- you took the pressure off our family and ensured that all kids on our lists received a gift.

Please know that we haven’t made this decision lightly, we struggle with the idea that Christmas isn’t always a fun time for some kids, however, we know that there are other organisations/initiatives that do amazing work to support kids in our communities. As a family we will continue to support local organisations to make a difference at Christmas time.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank:

• Our wonderful donors- together we gave out 1,719 Christmas gifts to kids over the last four years…..1,719! That’s pretty impressive! Thank you for trusting us, supporting us and putting so much love into your gifts.

• The organisations who offered up their premises to be a drop off location- we have met some pretty amazing people on this journey and your support every year blew us away. You were all so generous.

• The teachers/ reps we dealt with at the schools/ organisations. You make such a difference, and advocate hard for your kids- keep up the good work! You really are amazing….we’re so sorry we couldn’t help you this year.

• Our family and friends who were always on hand to offer support and proudly promoted us to anyone who would listen- thank you.
